The Software Quality Analyst I (QA1) is responsible for executing black-box testing across client platforms, software, and hardware. This role focuses on identifying defects, analyzing test results, troubleshooting issues, and producing clear, detailed defect reports for engineering teams. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while maintaining a strong commitment to product quality.
Key Responsibilities
Execute black-box testing on client platforms, software, and hardware devices
Analyze test results to identify defects, regressions, trends, and patterns of failure
Troubleshoot issues, reproduce defects, and validate fixes across multiple environments
Design test scenarios, create test cases, and execute test plans with a quality-driven mindset
Document, track, and report defects clearly and accurately for engineering teams
Manage quality issues throughout the testing lifecycle
Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement
Test and validate AI-driven features, including interactions with Large Language Models (LLMs) and virtual assistant technologies
Required Qualifications
3 years of professional experience as a Black-Box Software Quality Analyst or in a related quality assurance role
Hands-on experience testing one or more of the following:
Mobile devices
Laptops
Home speakers
Home automation technologies
Bluetooth accessories
Experience working with or testing AI-driven systems, including Personal or Virtual Assistants (e.g., Siri, Alexa, Google Assistant)
Experience testing or validating Large Language Model (LLM)-based features, workflows, or integrations
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with data annotation, labeling, or data analytics
Familiarity with prompt-based testing, AI behavior validation, or model output evaluation
Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and within a team
Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Curious, proactive mindset with a strong interest in learning and exploring new technologies
Hourly Rate and Other Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position is between $27.00 - $32.00 per hour, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
