Senior Risk Management

Role Purpose

The CSEM and Regulatory Risk Sr Manager is responsible to oversee the operational effectiveness of process and procedures for CSEM, Control of Information and Regulatory Risk matters for CIB.

For Business Regulatory Risk, the role will handle Control of Information controls to mitigate Market Conduct Risk for CIB population, role will also be a focal point and coordinator for regulatory visits impacting areas in scope and will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure that the required business outcomes are met and regulatory disciplines are adhered to, which may include Customer Tax Reporting duties

Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Secretariat for the Reputational Risk and Client Selection Committee (RRCSC), which scope includes the activities to build the cases to a high level of quality for submission to RRCSC sessions in consultation with relevant parties, submitting the cases to the RRCSC as Secretariat for decision-making purposes, taking the minutes at RRCSC, circulating the approved minutes to relevant parties and following up the actions to ensure a timely and appropriate attention until closure.

  • Acts as First Line of Defence and primary Subject Matter Expert for all CSEM risk appetite and financial crime risk matters.

  • Manages relationships with related CSEM stakeholders with a clear understanding that operational effectiveness requires consistent Cross Line of Business and Cross Border execution.

  • Ensures all sites can execute the CSEM process in an operationally effective manner using an automated tool that generates consistent and quality MI, enables efficient resources allocation against a CSEM blueprint, and supports cross-border and cross-business line decisioning and execution.

  • Ensures a local resourcing model is maintained by all relevant parties in CSEM process (eg GSC/FCR/Sanctions /AMLi).

  • Collaborates with SLoD and GSC to ensure all customers considered to potentially exceed HSBC's financial crime risk appetite are identified and subject to further evaluation through a robust objective process.

  • Oversees responsibility for the FLOD within the LOB to determine feasibility, approach, scope, resources etc for change programmes, ad-hoc initiatives etc.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with experience of dealing with executives at all levels including the capacity to articulate complex cases for risk management and policy in the language of business.

  • Experience of dealing with regulatory matters and confident interaction with Regulators and auditors

  • Experience in contributing to joining up with the other teams in Business, Service Delivery, Product owners and Risk stewards.

  • Understanding KYC, Transaction Monitoring and FCC Investigation processes, Customer Tax Reportung (FATCA and CRS) and Regulatory Reporting.

  • Experienced and a strategic thinker
