CROCKETT-CITY OF Animal Control Officer in Crockett, Texas

Job Summary:

Responsible for enforcing animal control ordinances and promoting public safety and animal welfare within the community. This position responds to calls involving stray, injured, abused, or dangerous animals; patrols public areas to monitor animal activity and secure loose animals; and transports animals to shelters or veterinary facilities for care. The officer issues citations and warnings for ordinance violations, prepares accurate reports of animal control activities, and performs all duties in compliance with established safety policies and procedures. The role requires regular, reliable attendance, effective teamwork, professionalism, and courteous customer service while demonstrating respect for individuals of diverse backgrounds.

Work Environment

:

Involves extended periods of walking and driving, including walking through brush and onto residential property with resident pets that may be a nuisance/threat, repeatedly getting in and out of a vehicle, and repetitive bending, squatting, and kneeling and lifting of animals and traps. Requires exercising appropriate safety precautions while working under extreme heat and cold conditions and inclement weather, in tight or enclosed areas, and in close proximity to high-speed vehicle traffic.

Work Schedule:

The work schedule is not more than 19 hours per week.
