Assists with safety inspections, compliance activities, training coordination, and documentation to support a safe and compliant learning and working environment. Works under the direction of a supervisor and the system-level Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team to implement established safety programs and procedures.## Job Duties- Conduct routine safety walk-throughs of campus facilities, classrooms, laboratories, and work areas- Document observations and report findings to supervisors or appropriate stakeholders- Assist with follow-up actions and corrective measures as directed- Support EHS compliance programs, including OSHA, hazardous materials, chemical safety, and bloodborne pathogens- Maintain safety records, inventories, logs, and compliance documentation- Support proper handling, labeling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials- Assist with coordinating required safety training for faculty and staff- Track and maintain accurate training and compliance records- Distribute training materials and provide basic safety guidance under supervisory direction- Support First Aid, CPR, and BLS recordkeeping- Assist with day-to-day implementation of campus safety initiatives- Collaborate with local safety contacts and the system-level EHS team- Identify recurring safety concerns or trends and report observations to leadership- Perform basic purchasing, scheduling, and coordination for safety-related needs- Assist with incident documentation and maintaining safety files- Perform other duties as assigned## Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent- Up to one (1) year of relevant experience- Familiarity with federal, state, and local safety regulations and compliance requirements- Knowledge of safety training programs- Strong planning, coordination, and recordkeeping skills- Ability to collaborate across departments and promote safety culture- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and adaptable in fast-paced environments- Strong verbal and written communication skills- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word)## Preferred Qualifications- OSHA 10 Certification- OSHA 30 Certification- Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification- Previous experience in a community college or higher education setting## Additional Information- Environment: Primarily office-based with frequent visits to laboratories, classrooms, and campus facilities for safety assessments- Physical Requirements: Occasional lifting or moving of safety equipment and hazardous materials; ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)- Exposure: Limited exposure to chemicals, biological materials, and other hazards during inspections- Schedule: Standard business hours with flexibility for emergency response, special projects, or occasional after-hours training- Travel: Minimal, typically limited to campus locations
