This role involves a combination of 75% quality control and 25% research and development activities. The successful candidate will perform testing on production batches, raw materials, and finished products, ensuring quality and precision in every task.
Responsibilities
Perform testing on production batches, raw materials, and finished products using various methods such as pH, viscosity, density, percent solids, titrations, flash point, refractive index, and scent.
Enter data for samples, production retains, and documentation from production and suppliers.
Provide guidance on batch formulations and prepare certificates of analysis for customers.
Calibrate and maintain lab instruments and operations equipment to known standards.
Manage the database for samples and production retains.
Support manufacturing processes by advising on batch formulation adjustments.
Prepare sample batches for customers and the sales team.
Perform stability testing on laboratory and manufacturing samples.
Communicate with outside laboratories for external tests.
Ensure correct product label confirmation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
A four-year degree in the sciences is preferred.
1-2 years of quality experience with an R&D function, with some formulation experience.
Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access).
Industry experience in chemicals is preferred, although applicants from the food industry are welcome.
Work Environment
The team consists of four people in the lab along with the Lab/Technical Services Manager. The entire site has about 80 people. The position requires good interpersonal skills, communication, and teamwork. A reserved personality is preferred for this role. The work schedule is first shift, Monday to Friday, from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. The CEO, President, and other top executives are frequently on-site, fostering an involved and collaborative environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Countryside, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
