The Brookside School in Cottekill (near SUNY Ulster) is seeking afull-time PTA to work with children with special needs. Certification is required, and experience with preschool and school age students with disabilities is a plus.
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) will provide physical therapy services under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT), with a prescription written by a physician as recommended in each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP), completing all necessary documentation regarding progress and recommendations for continued or additional services.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Collaborating and communicating with physical therapist responsible for their supervision in designing and carrying out physical therapy services for each child on their caseload.
Under the supervision of the PT:
Provide direct and appropriate physical therapy for an assigned caseload of students at the IEP recommended frequency.
Updating the IEP at the mandated frequency using IEP Direct, when available and providing both district mandated progress marks and narrative progress notes each quarter.
Collaborating and communicating with the LPT, education staff, and other related service providers to share information regarding students and to assure that students needs are being addressed and met.
Providing annual progress summary for each student as needed for their annual review addressing current levels of functioning and continued eligibility and need for physical therapy services.
Continuing professional growth in all areas necessary to improve quality of services.

HOURS: 32.5/Monday through Friday - 8:30 am to 3:00 pm
STARTING SALARY: $ 25.20 to $ 27.72 per hour
Minimum Requirements
Associates degree and NYS certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
Computer experience including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
Excellent communication skills to be able to articulate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain professional and courteous working relationships with all internal staff and external stakeholders.
Experience with both preschool and school-age children with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
