Job Title: Forklift Mechanic (No Travel)

Job Description

The forklift mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining forklifts and other material‑handling equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role supports warehouse, distribution, and industrial operations by minimizing equipment downtime and keeping fleets in top working condition.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on electric, propane, diesel, and gasoline-powered forklifts, including hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.

  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance, such as fluid changes, lubrication, battery care, brake adjustments, and safety inspections.

  • Repair or replace components including engines, transmissions, masts, forks, lift cylinders, steering systems, and electrical wiring.

  • Use diagnostic tools and service software to identify faults and verify repairs.

  • Document all work performed, including parts used, labor time, and inspection results.

  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform on‑site repairs when needed.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.

  • Communicate equipment status and repair recommendations to supervisors, operators, and fleet managers.

  • Order and track parts as needed to complete repairs efficiently.

Essential Skills

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and lift‑truck service software.

  • Experience with battery‑powered and internal combustion forklifts.

  • Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

  • Valid driver’s license; forklift certification is a plus.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or trade school preferred.

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in tight or elevated spaces.

  • Previous work as a forklift, heavy equipment, or automotive mechanic.

  • Experience with brands such as Toyota, Crown, Hyster‑Yale, or Komatsu.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $72800.00 - $90000.00/yr.
