System One Refueling & Remote Handling Engineer in Corvallis, Oregon

Job Title: Refueling & Remote Handling Engineer

Location: Corvallis, OR

Type: Contract

Contractor Work Model: Remote

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of solutions for complex problems in fuel and reactor module handling, including remote disassembly, inspection, and assembly during reactor refueling.

  • Provide system engineering input to design remotely operated and controlled automated, robotic, and tele-operated reactor servicing tools and inspection equipment.

  • Prepare, review, and check engineering reports, system descriptions, specifications, drawings, calculations, and other design documents focused on reactor servicing tooling and inspection systems.

  • Collaborate with the Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) Component design organization to ensure interface features meet performance requirements.

  • Work alongside Systems Engineering and Operations to develop work sequences and handling plans as part of a comprehensive tool design scheme.

  • Develop and maintain engineering standards, criteria, and procedures.

  • Support procurement activities related to equipment design, fabrication, and testing.

  • Mentor and train engineers in technical standards and problem-solving approaches.

  • Self-manage workload, deadlines, and project priorities.

    Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Nuclear Engineering (Master's degree preferred).

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in designing mechanical handling equipment and systems.

  • Proficiency in planning, preparing, and reviewing mechanical design documents.

  • Experience working in a nuclear environment is a plus.

  • Eligibility to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, planning, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Knowledge of safety culture principles and quality assurance standards, including 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.
