Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Mechanical Engineer to join our Medical Power R&D team at our Cork facility. In this role, you will lead the mechanical design and development of new, next generation power platforms from concept through production. You will collaborate closely with cross functional engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams to deliver high quality, manufacturable solutions that meet both customer and regulatory requirements.
This position offers the opportunity to work on new to the world designs, influence product architecture, and provide technical leadership within a highly skilled engineering team.
Essential Responsibilities
Lead mechanical design for new product platforms, including concept development, detailed design, and release to manufacturing
Develop complex mechanical solutions across sheet metal, plastics, and machined components
Diagnose and resolve complex design and manufacturability issues, implementing effective corrective actions
Support the development and integration of new technologies into manufacturing processes
Collaborate with manufacturing partners to ensure designs are cost effective, robust, and manufacturable at scale
Ensure design documentation complies with Advanced Energy standards and applicable regulatory requirements
Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to less experienced engineers and designers
Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and cross functional problem solving activities
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies and share insights across the team
Maintain organized filing of design and parts data
Work within project schedule and budgets
Other duties as assigned
Experience
5–7 years of mechanical product design experience, with additional experience in drafting or equivalent practical expertise
Strong background in CNC machining, soft and hard tooling, and design for mass production
Hands on experience with manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability (DFM)
Proven expertise in the design, documentation, and maintenance of sheet metal, plastic, and mechanical assemblies
Education
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
Technical & Professional Skills
Strong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and ISO GPS standards
Advanced proficiency with CAD, Thermal Analysis, FEA tools. Solidworks etc.
Ability to manage projects from concept through release, including schedules and resource coordination
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to exercise sound engineering judgment
Comfortable defining methods and procedures for new or complex design challenges
Demonstrated leadership, communication, and mentoring capabilities
