At Cadence, we hire and develop leaders and innovators who want to make an impact on the world of technology. AI infrastructure is driving demand for Ethernet at speeds that didn't exist five years ago. The Ethernet IP team in Cadence Cork is building the controller IP (MAC, PCS, FEC ) that runs at the heart of that infrastructure, operating at speeds up to 1.6Tb under IEEE 802.3dj. The full design team is in Cork, covering front-end through to silicon delivery under one roof. The team is also an active contributor to the IEEE 802.3 and Ultra Ethernet Consortium standards committees, engineers here don't just implement specs, they help write them.
We're looking for a graduate engineer to join that team and grow with it.
Job Responsibilities:
Design RTL for high-speed Ethernet MAC, PCS, and FEC IP cores across multi-rate, multi-port architectures (10Gb through 1.6Tb)
Collaborate daily with design, verification, and back-end engineers — all co-located in Cork
Learn and apply digital design best practices: synthesis, timing closure, and configurable IP delivery
Job Qualifications:
Degree in Electronic/Electrical or Computer Engineering (Bachelor's minimum)
Solid understanding of digital design fundamentals — RTL, state machines, clocking, timing
Exposure to Verilog or SystemVerilog (academic or industry)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively in a team
Additional Skills/Preferences:
Any exposure to Ethernet standards or high-speed networking
Familiarity with simulation/debug tools (Xcelium, VCS, ModelSim)
Experience with synthesis or FPGA implementation
Awareness of FEC or signal integrity concepts
