This Opportunity is for a Social Service Manager -- Safety with a state agency work location in the following counties: Alcorn, Tishomingo, Prentiss, Lee, and Itawamba.
About the Position
This manager will serve the following counties: Alcorn, Tishomingo, Prentiss, Lee, and Itawamba. The Social Services Manager oversees social service activities within an assigned facility or program. This role includes planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating program operations, as well as evaluating program effectiveness. The manager develops procedures and administrative policies and manages the program budget. At this level, the employee serves as a member of the agency's leadership team. Key responsibilities include investigating reports of maltreatment involving children in foster care, conducting safety and risk assessments, and investigating child fatalities that meet established criteria. The manager performs historical record checks to determine prior involvement of individuals named in reports and prepares for and attends court hearings related to completed investigations. The role also includes presenting at administrative appeal hearings. The manager participates in collaborative team meetings and maintains communication with all relevant parties throughout investigations. Duties include attending forensic interviews and autopsies, documenting all activities in accordance with established protocols and policies, and uploading completed investigations and supporting documentation to designated systems. The manager is responsible for issuing notifications to courts and other appropriate parties at the conclusion of investigations. Additional responsibilities include providing peer support to new and transferring staff, attending regular team and individual staff meetings, and collaborating with law enforcement and other stakeholders. The position requires on-call availability after hours and on weekends within the designated coverage area, as well as routine travel using a personal vehicle. The manager may also be required to initiate investigations in other areas of the state as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree, 5+ years of experience, and 2-3 years of supervisory experience. Appointing authority may require a Master's Degree and/or a social worker's license. Hiring agency's preferred qualifications: a Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree, from an accredited four-year college or university in social work, social services, psychology, educational psychology, sociology, nursing, criminal justice, counseling, marriage and family therapy, family studies, or a related field. 5+ years of experience, and 2-3 years of supervisory experience. Will require an MS social worker's license.
