Job Description

The Test Technician supports engineering and quality teams by performing hands-on testing of components and finished products in a regulated manufacturing environment. This role focuses on executing established test procedures, accurately documenting results, and helping ensure products meet defined specifications. It is well suited to someone with strong mechanical aptitude who is comfortable working with physical components, tools, and fixtures while following detailed written procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform functional and mechanical testing on device components, assemblies, and finished products.

  • Execute test procedures in accordance with written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and approved test protocols.

  • Set up, operate, and verify basic test fixtures, gauges, and test equipment to support testing activities.

  • Use hand tools and other basic equipment to handle, assemble, and prepare components and prototypes for testing.

  • Accurately document test results, measurements, and observations in the required formats and systems.

  • Identify test failures, abnormalities, or unexpected results and promptly communicate findings to engineering and quality teams.

  • Maintain organized and complete test records to support product documentation and regulatory requirements.

  • Follow all quality system procedures, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements while performing work.

  • Read and follow work instructions, schematics, blueprints, and test-related documentation as needed.

  • Support troubleshooting activities by providing clear, detailed feedback on test outcomes and equipment behavior.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude or hands-on mechanical experience in areas such as manufacturing, assembly, testing, or maintenance.

  • Ability to read, understand, and follow detailed written instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and work instructions.

  • Comfort working with test equipment, gauges, fixtures, and hand tools in a production or laboratory setting.

  • Capability to perform repetitive, detail-oriented tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy and consistency.

  • Ability to clearly and legibly document work, test results, and observations.

  • Basic computer skills for documentation, data entry, and record keeping.

  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing and documentation.

  • Ability to read and interpret basic electronics or electrical information, including schematics, when required.

  • Familiarity with assembly and repair concepts related to mechanical or electro-mechanical components.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior manufacturing experience in a regulated or quality-focused environment.

  • Experience working with prototypes and supporting prototype build or test activities.

  • Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and basic electrical or electronic schematics.

  • Experience using test equipment such as gauges, meters, or other measurement tools.

  • Background in troubleshooting mechanical or simple electrical issues.

  • Comfort working with hand tools and basic shop equipment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with engineering and quality teams.

Work Environment

Dress is appropriate for a technical production or lab environment, with any required protective equipment provided according to safety and quality guidelines.

This is a Contract position based out of Coralville, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.
