Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses at the Frost School of Music. These may include courses listed in our academic bulletin (e.g., Music Bibliography, Music of the Romantic Period, Music in the United States, Music of Latin America), as well as topics in the scholar's field(s) of expertise.
Pursue a vibrant program of scholarly research that demonstrates continued professional growth and visibility.
Mentor and advise students in the Musicology Department and the Frost School of Music.
Contribute service to the department, the Frost School, the University, and the profession (e.g., state/national organizations) and contribute to the creative and intellectual life of the university.
Required Qualifications
Earned PhD in musicology, music history, or ethnomusicology by August 15, 2026
An exemplary record of scholarly publication and research
Evidence of effective teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels
Evidence of or strong potential for developing a national/international scholarly profile (commensurate with rank)
Preferred Areas of Expertise
Interdisciplinary approaches to music research
Musics of the Americas (broadly conceived)
Music and community
Culturally responsive pedagogies
Rank and Salary
Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
