Position Summary: The Assistant Director of Admissions supports Miami Law’s nationwide student recruitment efforts and enrollment goals through the development and implementation of integrated marketing and recruitment strategies. This position serves as a primary reviewer for JD applications, participates in the admissions interview program for prospective students, and creates digital content to support recruitment communications. This position requires regional and national travel, proficiency in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, the ability to use sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy in a professional setting, and the ability to use data to support the planning of outreach activities and events.
Reporting Relationship: Reports to Director of Admissions (Riva Medina)
Core Job Functions:
Develops and implements recruitment and yield strategies to attract prospective students and meet the enrollment needs of the University. Establishes and maintains relationships with students, parents, high school counselors, teachers, and administrators. Provides pre-admission advice and counsel relative to the recruitment and admissions processes. Seeks out opportunities to engage and meet prospective students by participating in local, state, and national school events, college fairs, and community organizations. Addresses questions and responds to inquiries from prospective students through various mediums. Hosts and assists in the establishment and coordination of on-campus programs for prospective students. Represents the University during on-campus events to provide information about available offerings, including but not limited to, academic programs, resources, opportunities, and facilities. Evaluates the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and makes recommendations for program changes and enhancements. Compiles, assesses, and interprets student data, event outcomes, recruitment trends, and market area trends, and reports findings to senior leadership. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions:
Reviews and evaluates JD applications using professional judgment and holistic assessment, considering academic credentials, personal statements, letters of recommendation, and other factors relevant to the selection of qualified candidates. Assesses complex admissions cases and assists in the selection of JD candidates.
Participates in and supports Miami Law’s admissions and scholarship interview program, including conducting interviews with prospective students and providing evaluative feedback to inform admissions decisions.
Addresses questions and responds to inquiries from prospective students and applicants through various mediums.
Provides individual counseling to prospective students and applicants regarding all aspects of the law school application process.
Supports on-campus visits and events, off-campus events, and virtual programming for prospective students.
Seeks out opportunities to engage and meet prospective students and pre-law advisors by participating in local, state, and national school events, law fairs, and community organizations.
Represents Miami Law at regional and national events and to a wide range of constituents and venues.
Creates email content and blog posts for the Admissions Office, ensuring recruitment-related digital content is current, compelling, and aligned with Miami Law’s brand and messaging priorities.
Oversees and maintains official recruitment assets for the Admissions Office, including recruitment presentations and other materials used in representing Miami Law to prospective students, ensuring content is accurate, up-to-date, and consistent with institutional messaging.
Provides support for the office’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, including list management and communication workflows.
Develops and implements recruitment and yield strategies to attract prospective students and meet the enrollment needs of the University.
Compiles, assesses, and interprets student data, event outcomes, recruitment trends, and market area trends, and reports findings as needed.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions.
This position doesn’t have any supervisory functions.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree required; JD or master’s degree preferred.
Two (2) years of experience in admissions, student enrollment, or a related field. Experience in a similar academic setting or marketing experience preferred.
Unite/ACES2 law school customer relationship management system expertise preferred.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Ability and willingness to travel heavily during peak recruitment season and to incur travel expenses for reimbursement.
Ability and willingness to work on evenings and weekends as needed.
Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, tact, and diplomacy in highly confidential and professional setting.
Ability to identify and use data to make decisions about recruiting initiatives.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in office characterized by high volume of applications, visitors, and emails.
Ability to work effectively under deadlines and high expectations of productivity.
Demonstrated skill in representing Miami Law to prospective students, prelaw advisors, and parents.
Demonstrated success in event planning and programming.
Excellent computer skills and comfort level with technology and software.
Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to write clear, engaging, and audience-appropriate content for digital platforms, including web pages and blog posts, in support of admissions recruitment and communications goals.
Exceptional dedication to customer service.
Exercise of sound judgment in evaluating applications for admission.
Knowledge of best practices in law school admissions.
Knowledge of business and management principles.
Strong attention to detail, leadership skills, and team building skills.
Strong proficiency with admissions CRM systems; experience with Unite or ACES2 preferred. Ability to use CRM tools to manage prospect and applicant communications, generate reports, and support data-driven recruitment strategies. Must be willing to learn new software as required.
Strong work ethic and interest in improving performance.
