Job Title: Janitorial Worker Job Description

The primary role of a Janitorial Worker is to ensure that facilities are maintained in a clean and orderly condition. This includes a variety of tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, restroom sanitation, and garbage disposal. Additionally, the position involves supporting internal office moves, including the teardown and assembly of office cubicles, and performing minor building maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and restroom sanitation.

  • Dispose of garbage and manage stocking, unpacking, and receiving of supplies.

  • Assist with internal office moves and relocations, including the teardown and assembly of office cubicles.

  • Conduct general building maintenance tasks such as minor electrical and plumbing repairs, light replacements, and interior and exterior clean-up.

  • Participate in recycling efforts and ensure efficient building operations.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in cleaning, housekeeping, and janitorial duties.

  • Knowledge of proper use of PPE such as gloves, goggles, respirators, and steel-toe footwear.

  • Basic understanding of hazardous materials handling and awareness of Lockout/Tagout boundaries.

  • Proficiency in using industrial cleaning equipment like auto-scrubbers, sweepers, and buffers.

  • Ability to operate wet/dry vacuums and other cleaning equipment.

  • Knowledge of chemical cleaning methods for oils, grease, and industrial residues.

  • Competence in waste and recycling management, and spill cleanup and containment.

  • Skill in routine restroom and breakroom sanitation and cleaning around machinery and production areas.

  • Ability to follow sanitation protocols specific to manufacturing environments.

  • Experience in inventory tracking for cleaning supplies.

  • Ability to report maintenance or safety issues and identify hazards or leaks.

  • Strong time management skills and ability to work around production schedules.

  • Clear communication with supervisors and production staff.

  • Reliability, consistent attendance, and the ability to work independently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • General experience with industrial equipment and ability to perform preventative maintenance repairs.

  • Knowledge of basic manual work techniques.

  • Good attendance record and a positive attitude.

  • Ability to lift 50 to 100 pounds.

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • 0-2 years of related experience required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00/hr.
