Lundbeck Senior Analytical Chemist in Copenhagen, Denmark
Senior Analytical Chemist
Requisition ID: 7469
Location:
Copenhagen, Danish Capital Region, DK
Senior Scientist, Solid Form and Particle Characterization, Analytical Development - Valby
Lundbeck’s passion links to our purpose of advancing brain health and transforming lives so every person can be their best. By developing innovative treatments, we improve the lives of people living with brain diseases.
If you have a background in Solid Form Characterisation within particle characterisation you could be our new Senior Scientist in Analytical Development (AD).
Your new role
You will be responsible for Particle Characterization involving optical light microscopy, SEM, Malvern morphology MG3, specific surface area measurements using BET and particle size determination using laser diffraction (HELOS). The laser diffraction part includes method development and validation for advanced projects.
You will contribute to the physico-chemical and particle characterization of new development compounds to build a comprehensive understanding of their properties, including crystal form, thermal behavior, hygroscopicity, and physical stability under humidity, heat, pressure, and mechanical stress such as grinding, milling, and particle size reduction.
You will also be involved in analyzing XRPD of obtained forms and integrating these insights with other physico-chemical data (e.g., TGA, DSC, DVS) to rationalize their physical stability and overall behavior.
You will collaborate with highly skilled technicians working across various analytical techniques.
You will contribute to additional tasks such as equipment qualification, writing Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and Analytical Procedures, documenting deviations, and supporting the development and maintenance of other systems.
You will work closely with the crystallization team to optimize the crystallization process for the selected solid form and participate in cross-organizational teams and project activities.
Your future team
AD is part of the Chemical & Pharmaceutical Development (C&PD) organization. C&PD is a division responsible for the CMC development and innovation within new drug candidates based on chemically synthesized molecules. We offer state‑of‑the‑art laboratories equipped with a wide range of analytical techniques, providing an inspiring environment with plenty of opportunities for scientific and professional development.
The department consists of 29 people equally divided between technicians and scientists working within analytical development of drug substances and drug products. As our new senior scientist within solid form and particle characterisation, you’ll work closely with experienced colleagues – both chemists and technicians – in a hands-on and supportive setting.
What you bring to the team
Our preferred candidate has the following personal and professional qualifications:
PhD or MSc in chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or engineering, with strong expertise in physical chemistry and particle analysis.
Experience with analytical techniques for physico-chemical characterization in small-molecule development (Microscopy, Laser diffraction, BET, XRPD, TGA, DSC and DVS), supported by a solid foundation in organic chemistry.
A scientific mindset with a strong curiosity to explore and understand connections between observations.
Preferably, practical experience working under GMP or similar quality systems, with the ability to work in a structured and methodical manner.
A motivated and collaborative attitude, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Our promise to you
Lundbeck offers an inspiring workplace and innovative culture, where our curiosity, accountability and adaptability enable us to transform lives. We want to go faster and further on addressing the big unmet needs of people living with brain disorders.
