The Chemical Operator plays a key role in a pilot-scale manufacturing environment by preparing and mixing chemical batches, supporting product scale-up, and ensuring that all materials and finished products meet defined quality specifications. This position follows established procedures and standards to safely handle raw materials, monitor processes, and perform chemical analyses that support production and quality control activities.
Responsibilities
Perform chemical manufacturing operations in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Execute batch schedules by preparing, formulating, and mixing batches of chemicals to support product scale-up.
Handle and manage raw materials, including receiving, staging, and preparing them for use in production.
Test the quality of raw materials through chemical analysis to ensure they meet required specifications before use.
Conduct experimental batch mixing to support process development and optimization.
Adjust experimental batch mixes as needed and document all changes until finished products meet specific technical specifications.
Test the quality of in-process and finished products through chemical analysis and document results accurately.
Collect, process, and record data from production and testing activities for further analysis and reporting.
Sample, inspect, measure, and approve components and chemicals for production usage based on defined criteria.
Inspect and approve finished products to verify they meet quality and specification requirements.
Verify packaging weights and labeling to ensure accuracy and compliance with product requirements.
Monitor production processes and equipment during batch operations and promptly report or address any deviations.
Collaborate with laboratory and quality control personnel to support QC testing and continuous improvement of processes.
Essential Skills
Previous experience in a chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Hands-on experience with formulations and mixing batches of chemicals.
Experience performing batch making and chemical operating activities.
Ability to follow SOPs and GMPs in a regulated manufacturing or laboratory setting.
Experience with process monitoring during chemical production.
Ability to perform QC testing and basic chemical analysis on raw materials and finished products.
Experience with solution preparation and batch mixing in a lab or pilot-scale environment.
Strong attention to detail for sampling, inspection, measurement, and documentation.
Ability to accurately verify packaging weights and labeling.
No professional certifications or licenses required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working as a lab technician or in a similar laboratory support role.
Familiarity with pilot-scale or scale-up manufacturing processes.
Background in batch operations such as calciner or solution preparation is beneficial.
Comfort working with data collection and basic data processing for analysis.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow detailed written instructions.
Work Environment
This role operates in a pilot-scale manufacturing environment that closely integrates production and laboratory activities. The position supports second shift (3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) and third shift (11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.), Monday through Friday. Work involves handling chemicals, operating batch and mixing equipment, monitoring processes, and performing quality control testing in a controlled production and lab setting.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
