Robert Half Certified Payroll Specialist in Concord, California
Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Certified Payroll Specialist to support payroll compliance for an ongoing construction project. This role will focus on preparing and managing certified payroll reports, ensuring compliance with federal and state prevailing wage regulations, and coordinating payroll documentation for project stakeholders.
Certified payroll reporting is required on many government-funded construction projects to confirm workers are paid the correct prevailing wage rates and classifications.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and submit weekly certified payroll reports for the project.
Review employee classifications, wage determinations, fringe benefits, and overtime calculations.
Collect and review subcontractor certified payroll submissions and follow up on discrepancies.
Maintain project payroll documentation including Statements of Compliance and supporting records.
Coordinate with accounting, payroll, HR, and project management teams to resolve payroll issues.
Support internal and external payroll compliance audits.
Track project labor hours and ensure accurate reporting by job classification.
Maintain organized records for government agencies and project stakeholders.
Certified payroll specialists commonly process weekly reports verifying workers are paid correctly and review subcontractor payroll submissions for compliance.
Requirements
Qualifications
3+ years of certified payroll or prevailing wage payroll experience
Experience in construction, public works, or government-funded projects
Strong knowledge of certified payroll reporting and compliance
Familiarity with Davis-Bacon Act and prevailing wage regulations
Experience reviewing subcontractor payroll documentation
Proficiency in Excel and payroll systems
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred
Experience with LCPtracker, DIR reporting, eMars, or similar certified payroll systems
Experience with union payroll or fringe benefit calculations
Construction accounting environment experience
