Job Title: Quality Control TechnicianJob Description
As a Quality Control Technician, you will ensure that all parameters of food safety and quality are adhered to and maintained in the laboratory and designated areas. You will perform a variety of tasks to support the production and quality assurance processes.
Responsibilities
Calibrate lab and line equipment to ensure accurate results.
Collect in-process and finished product samples for standardized qualitative and quantitative testing to ensure they meet specifications.
Perform and record product evaluation tests in accordance with HACCP Plans, SOPs, and other food safety/quality programs.
Document and record all required information accurately in the computer system.
Conduct ATP testing as per the allergen control program and perform microbiological testing.
Maintain a retain sample library and recognize quality deficiencies, initiating proper follow-up.
Identify and isolate products that do not meet standards and provide appropriate dispositions.
Understand and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety regulations.
Conduct lab testing procedures such as brix, refractory index, pH, density, sensory evaluations, weights, and moisture testing.
Operate equipment such as pH meters, viscosity meters, and GCMS.
Essential Skills
Proficiency with pH meters, UV visual measurement equipment, and gas chromatography.
Knowledge of food science and chemistry.
Ability to understand product specification sheets and quality characteristics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
AA/BA/BS degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related field OR 1+ year of experience in food quality control with specific testing experience.
Ability to wear a half-face respirator when required.
Willingness to work and stay in the food industry.
Work Environment
This position requires working in a lab setting, testing food for pH and viscosity. The work environment is busy, with production operating seven days a week. The role involves working a 6-day week, including one weekend day (rotating every other weekend). The second shift is from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and shifts on Saturday or Sunday may have different hours. Candidates must be flexible and available to accommodate production needs, including potential back-to-back weekend work if necessary. Initial training may require working from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM for the first week or two.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Commerce, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
