[[What's This Job All About: The Program Manager is responsible for the oversight of all child and adult services programs. This includes development, implementation, on-going compliance monitoring, and is responsible for all required reporting to the California Department of Social Services. The position directly supervises the social worker supervisors and the social services assistants. Supervision is also provided to other unit staff as needed.
At the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), we work a 37.5 full-time work week, with the option of a flex-schedule and potential upcoming opportunities to work remote 1-2 days per week (depending on position). This allows our staff to find a work-life balance that best fits their needs. Supervision and Examples of Duties
Incumbents in this classification receive supervision from the deputy director, the director, or other upper-level department management. Program Manager II positions provide direction to subordinate managers, supervisors and other assigned staff in employment, eligibility, and social services programs.
Qualifications
Experience and Training Guidelines
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge andabilities would be:
Experience and Training:
Bachelors degree and one (1) year of experience performing duties comparable to a Program Manager I.
OR
Bachelors degree and two (2) years of experience comparable to an Eligibility Supervisor, Employment and Training Worker Supervisor, Social Worker Supervisor I or II, or Staff Services Manager I or II.
OR
A graduate degree in public administration or business administration or a Masters Degree in Social Work
