The Assistant Director of Eligibility Analysis and Operations for Student Financial Aid (SFA) within the Office of Strategic Enrollment Management provides oversight, leadership, and direction to the staff, operations and activities for the area. Works in conjunction with the Associate Director to plan, prepare and implement operational policy, programs and process improvements for undergraduate and graduate professional students. Coordinates and oversees professional financial aid packaging and ensures compliance. Implements policies, efficiency measures and develops procedures for staff. Provides information and processing services to staff in SFA, colleges, departments, extended campuses, and external representatives. Routinely exercises professional judgment in matters such has appeals of dependency status and special financial circumstances. Regularly meets with SFA systems staff regarding the Student Information System (SIS) performance.
Monitors, prioritizes and assigns work performed according to workflow demands by managing the daily workflow of five direct reports. Partners with three professional schools, College of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and the College of Dentistry to provide financial aid services for professional school students. Researches and resolves procedural problems and escalated cases. Responds and counsels students, parents, faculty, and staff on ongoing general financial aid inquiries. Maintains confidentially of sensitive documents and issues. Interviews, hires and trains new staff. Employs a comprehensive performance management system with staff, including performance planning, coaching, multiple source feedback and completing year end performance reviews. Serves as resident expert for SFA regarding awarding and processing issues, including federal regulations and institutional policies governing student financial aid eligibility. Attends meetings, serves on committees and acts in absence of the Associate Director. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education/experience. 5 years of relevant experience required. Detailed knowledge of federal, state laws, and university regulations regarding financial aid required.
Desired: 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred. Demonstrated leadership ability to manage staff is preferred. Skills in both written communication, public speaking and the ability to work well with a variety of student populations is also preferred.
Additional Information:
The pay range for this position is $58,700 - $60,000. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
