Scope of Position
The radiation physicist in Radiation Oncology is responsible for providing clinical coverage for supporting the operations of the Radiation Oncology department. They will work under the guidance of the lead radiation physicist assigned to them and develop competency in all areas of radiotherapy clinical coverage. Reviews OSU radiation treatment charts, initiates and supports departmental developmental projects for new treatments and instructs personnel in principles and regulations related to radiation therapy physics, dosimetry and radiation protection.
Position Summary
Under direct supervision, provides professional medical physics services at the Department of Radiation Oncology (or its outreach/affiliates) of the Medical Center. Performs pre-clinical and clinical innovation and development of advanced and novel treatment technologies. Evaluates and interprets medical radiation treatment prescriptions. Collaborates with medical providers in the design and modification of effective radiation treatments for patients; monitors treatment plans developed by Dosimetrists, and participates in development and execution of equipment monitoring, calibration, and safety surveys. Provide technical assistance in the development of treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy; monitor patients; maintain established policies, procedures, objectives, quality measurement, and safety.
