Scope of Position
The Ohio State University is committed to enhancing the quality of care provided to patients. The Quality Program Coordination Sr. Analyst will provide clinical and service data analyses and services to the Comprehensive Transplant Center (CTC) so that optimal quality of care & the highest level of patient outcomes can be achieved.
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of the CTC, evaluates clinical & physician practice patterns and evaluates clinical resource utilization as a means to improve the quality of care & efficient utilization of resources for patients for transplant patients.
Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Quality & Clinical Resource Use Analysis and Reporting
Oversees data analysis and reporting mechanisms designed to improve clinical outcomes and optimal resource management. Responsible for the development, data management, interpretation and presentation of findings for analyses.
Identifies and organizes data for trend analysis and pattern review to identify clinical quality practice patterns. Develops consistent measures for valid data analysis. Collaborates with clinical staff to severity adjust patient population and data trends. Provides routine analysis and reports designed to improve knowledge of practice management decisions and program design. Identifies product line strengths and opportunities for improvement. Works with staff to minimize inefficient practices and to educate attending and resident staff. Assists clinicians in evaluating alternative resource uses that support quality medical care.
Serves as liaison between administration, the medical staff, financial services and other departments to share information in an effort to maximize the reimbursement based on prospective payment systems.
Facilitates and participates in all solid organ transplant quality committees
Facilitates quality initiatives in areas where opportunities for improvement identified
Facilitates in sentinel event related processes (Sentinel event teams, sentinel event alerts, FMEA, etc.) where appropriate
Assists with development and continuous refinement of CTC Quality program
Develop and implement internal monitoring process of demonstrating compliance with United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Joint Commission Accreditation Health care Organizations (JCAHO) and Ohio Department Health (ODH) standards
Benchmarking
Utilizes external information to assist in the identification and implementation of product, service and process related quality of care & resource utilization measures, including but not limited to UHC databases, purchasing processes, benchmarking and technology assessments
Provides comparative performance data from external healthcare providers and from benchmark institutions to evaluate appropriate resource utilization. Collects and analyses comparative data to evaluate practice patterns. Participates in benchmarking projects and supports multidisciplinary performance improvement teams in improving resource utilization and quality outcomes. Accesses the appropriate databases to calculate comparative data.
Information Systems
- Develops and maintains information systems designed to document resource utilization information. Works with Information systems to enhance current database systems and assists in the implementation of new data collection methodologies. Integrates multiple data sources to develop comparative utilization information. Designs relational databases and query mechanisms for ad hoc and routine report writing. Optimizes the use of graphical software products to produce user-friendly reports.
Education/Seminar/Presentation
Represent the Medical Center both internally and externally in the provision of educational seminars, in service, presentations and publications
Serves as a liaison to UHC on behalf of hospital/system administration to facilitate and support projects identified.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in health related specialty or equivalent combination of education and experience.
4 years of relevant experience required. 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred.
