Scope of Position
Under the direction of a pharmacist and in coordination with other technicians, the Pharmacy Technician I is responsible for packaging, preparation, and distribution of medications, inventory control, customer service and maintaining pharmacy records. The Technician must participate in continual training opportunities provided by the department to develop ongoing skills in other areas of the pharmacy. The Technician must comply with all rules and regulations of the hospital and pharmacy department. If registered as a pharmacy technician trainee with the OH Board of Pharmacy, the Technician must complete OSU Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) employer-based training program. This position must also complete PTCB or NHA certification within 270 days of the hire date and update OH Board of Pharmacy registration status to Certified Registered once requirements are met, unless such certification and registration status is in place upon hire. All technicians must maintain a current PTCB or NHA certification and OH Board of Pharmacy Certified Registered Technician status throughout employment in order to work as a pharmacy technician at OSUWMC Department of Pharmacy.
Position Summary
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: Answering inbound phone calls from patients, using the medical record and dispensing software to arrange and document medication refills and shipments, processing insurance claims and resolving complex charging rejects, and making outbound calls to patients and insurance companies to facilitate medication fills. This position requires a minimum of 1 year experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or call center setting.

This position is in person at our Ackerman Rd location. The university will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.
