Scope of Position

The Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University is committed to enhancing the quality of nursing care provided to patients. The Nursing Clinical Quality and Patient Safety Coordinator will provide training and clinical/service data analysis for designated health system business units and supports the professional practice of nursing as essential and integral to patient care. The coordinator provides leadership and consultation to front line staff, nurse managers and directors regarding quality, safety and compliance.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Health System Nursing and Evidence-Based Practice, the Nursing Clinical Quality and Patient Safety Coordinator utilizes a variety of continuous quality improvement tools and resources to evaluate nursing data and practice patterns and evaluates clinical resource utilization as a means to improve practices in nursing and interdisciplinary care across the health system.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire:

Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required . Master of Science degree in Nursing preferred. Previous clinical quality management experience required in an acute care setting; experience preferred in an academic medical center or Magnet-designated hospital. Previous experience developing nursing standards of care. Skilled in project management and ability to facilitate group process.

Additional Information:

This coordinator position will work in conjunction with the other 2 Clinical Quality & Patient Safety Coordinators to impact Nursing-Sensitive Indicators (NSI) – the big 4 being Falls, Hospital-Acquired Pressure Injuries (HAPI), Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI), Central Line Associated Bloodstream Infections (CAUTI). The coordinator will collaborate with multiple disciplines across the enterprise and is a high-visibility role. Monday-Friday day shift position.
