Medical Center Security Dispatcher - FOP OLC

This position is responsible for managing and operating all aspects of the Security Control Center.

Receives and/or relays radio communications, telephone calls, pages, overhead announcements, correspondences and teletypes. Monitors door position, burglary, fire, panic and environmental alarms. Maintains a working knowledge of all operational security systems and surveillance equipment. Ensures accurate daily logs are completed and quality assurance is maintained at all times. Quick thoughts and actions are required when working with safety and security matters, and the incumbent must act as a courteous liaison between the Department of Security and Hospital staff members, internal medical center departments, patients, visitors as well as external law enforcement, fire and EMS entities. Employee must be able to multi-task and maintain accurate records and a professional demeanor while working in a fast paced environment. Employees are expected to competently operate telecommunication, radio access control and CCTV equipment and have good computer and data entry skills. Employee must also possess strong verbal communication and teamwork skills. This position is also responsible for alerting their supervisor or manager about problems regarding department equipment as soon as the issue is discovered.

Position requires sufficient mobility to move around the control center, not necessary ambulating. Employee will be in contact with all levels of staff plus patients from all walks of life and must be able to communicate effectively and professionally. Employee may either be standing or sitting when performing the function of the position. Visual acuity to observe situation both near and far through a wide range of vision, is a constant requirement and color vision must be normal.

Must obtain a current Basic Security Officer Certificate through the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) prior to the completion of the 12-month probationary period. This certification must be maintained while working within the capacity of a Medical Center Security Dispatcher.
