Scope of Position

The Manager of Nursing Education supports James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute by leading the James nursing education team and educational programming and affiliations, with a specialized focus on oncology programming. As a member of the Nursing Education Department leadership team, the Manager of Nursing Education collaborates with nurse leaders in promoting the James and OSUWMC mission, vision, and values. The Manager of Nursing Education leads the development and maintenance of all nursing education designed to support and continually raise the standard of nursing practice across the James Cancer Hospital cancer program, with nurses at all levels practicing at all James-related inpatient and outpatient facilities. The Manager of Nursing Education directs all departmental functions and collaborates across the OSU Health System, quality department, and accreditation departments.

Position Summary

Manager of Nursing Education-Oncology is responsible for:

  • Leading nursing and unlicensed staff educational programming, including orientation, in-service education, continuing education, and mandatory education.

  • Development of annual budget to support Oncology nursing and patient education leading to positive Oncology patient outcomes and satisfaction.

  • Promotion of the ongoing professional development of Oncology nurses.

  • Development and support of new product education and competencies.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire: Master's degree in nursing required, Doctorate degree preferred.

Minimum of three years RN clinical experience and two years’ management experience in relevant care setting required. Current Ohio license as RN

Demonstrated ability to interact cooperatively and collaboratively with diverse groups.

Ongoing: Completes annual mandatory education requirements and maintains Ohio RN license. Stays abreast of developments in core content areas of oncology nursing and nursing education.
