Scope of Position

A Medical Assistant is responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the medical office or hospital. This position will support physicians, providers, nurses, and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, documentation, and communication with a focus on patient experience, quality, and efficiency. Provide clinical orientation for all Medical Assistants and externs. Educate clinical standards and policy and procedure and provide feedback, as necessary.

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant will support the patient care treatment process by assisting the physicians, nurse practitioners, and other clinical staff in the appropriate delivery of patient care services. The Medical Assistant may be expected to perform multiple advanced clinical support tasks without supervision.

Medical Assistants collect and prepare laboratory specimens, dispose of contaminated supplies, and sterilize medical instruments. This position will arrange examining-room instruments and equipment, maintain supplies and equipment, and keep waiting and examining rooms neat and clean. The Medical Assistant verifies patient information by interviewing patients; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit. This position prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • High School graduate and successful completion of a Medical Assistant Training Program.

  • Medical Assistant certification is required with the approved certifications (i.e. CMA, NRCMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA).

  • 4 years of relevant experience required. 6 or more years of relevant experience preferred.

This position will be at New Albany two days and 3 at Outpatient Care East. The clinic will be open starting two days as we ramp up.
