Scope of Position

The Critical Care Laboratory provides comprehensive, time sensitive laboratory services to patients with a variety of diagnoses or admission/discharge criteria. The Critical Care Laboratory utilizes a total laboratory automated system that delivers specimens to automated chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, blood gases, immunochemistry and coagulation analyzers. The lab provides training for residents, new staff and medical technology students. The laboratory is staffed 24 hours per day, Sunday through Saturday.

Position Summary

This Lead Medical Technologist directs the daily operations of the Chemistry area and provides leadership within the critical care laboratory. This technologist performs specialized automated and manual laboratory procedures, verifies and reports test requests and results, and is directly responsible for the technical quality of tests performed in the laboratory. Administrative duties might include personnel evaluations for selected individuals, technical procedure writing/implementation, assisting with scheduling, training and record keeping. This technologist works under the direction of the division director(s) and lab manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in medical technology, Associates Degree or biological science degree with MT or MLT certification. Prefer a MT with 3 years of clinical laboratory experience or MLT with 5 years clinical laboratory experience. Must have knowledge in the focused area of hematology and understand Westgard rules. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and supervisory experience preferred.
