Job Title: Civil Project Manager (remote to start)
Job Description
The Civil Project Manager will lead and coordinate the planning, design, and permitting of site and civil engineering projects in the Columbus, OH metropolitan area. This role focuses on land development and infrastructure projects across diverse market sectors, including healthcare, higher education, distribution, K–12, commercial, office, retail, and mixed-use developments. The position combines technical project delivery, client management, and team leadership, with responsibility for coaching, training, and overseeing staff while contributing to the growth of the local practice.
Responsibilities
Lead the planning, design, and permitting of civil engineering, land development, and infrastructure projects from concept through completion.
Coordinate and maintain clear, proactive communication with clients throughout all project phases.
Design and oversee site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, infrastructure, and erosion and sediment control plans.
Manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks while adhering to established budgets, schedules, and deadlines.
Monitor project budgets, schedules, and timelines to minimize write-offs and keep projects on track financially.
Develop new client relationships and expand existing client accounts to support business growth.
Prepare, write, and review technical reports, including feasibility studies, stormwater management reports, technical specifications, and utility reports.
Provide expertise in stormwater management design, including hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, design, and water quality compliance.
Collaborate closely with office leadership to develop growth plans for the Columbus market and ensure effective staff utilization.
Coach, train, and oversee staff to support their professional development and maintain high-quality project delivery.
Contribute to the preparation of proposals and related documents to win new work.
Perform other related duties as requested to support project and office objectives.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Ohio.
At least 6 years of site and civil engineering experience for private development projects.
Proficiency with Civil 3D for designing site layout, grading, drainage, infrastructure, and erosion and sediment control from concept through completion.
Demonstrated expertise in stormwater management design, including hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design, and water quality compliance.
Proven experience managing projects from initial concept through construction documents.
Strong knowledge of local city, county, and state land use processes and regulations.
Demonstrated client development and relationship-building capabilities.
Experience in technical report writing and proposal writing.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and sound judgment capabilities.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits.
Valid driver’s license in good standing.

Work Environment
This role is based in the Columbus, OH metropolitan area. There is currently no physical office in Columbus, so the Civil Project Manager will initially work remotely. Once a local office is established, the position will transition to a hybrid schedule, typically involving three days in the office and two days working remotely each week. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
