Job Description
The Civil Project Manager will lead the planning, design, and permitting of site and civil engineering projects in the Columbus, OH metropolitan area, with a focus on land development and infrastructure for a wide range of private market sectors including healthcare, higher education, distribution, K-12, commercial, office, retail, and mixed-use developments. This role combines technical leadership with project management, client development, and staff mentoring, offering the opportunity to shape a growing regional practice and work as part of a passionate, collaborative team of civil engineers.
Responsibilities
Lead the planning, design, and permitting of civil engineering, land development, and infrastructure projects from concept through completion.
Coordinate and maintain clear, consistent communication with clients throughout all project phases.
Design and oversee site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, infrastructure, and erosion and sediment control for private development projects.
Develop new client relationships and maintain strong, ongoing relationships with existing clients to support business growth.
Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously within defined budgets, schedules, and deadlines.
Monitor project budgets, schedules, and timelines, and minimize write-offs by proactively keeping projects on budget.
Prepare, write, and review technical reports and proposals, including feasibility studies, stormwater management reports, technical specifications, and utility reports.
Provide expertise in stormwater management design, including hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design, and ensure water quality compliance.
Collaborate closely with office leadership to develop growth plans for the Columbus market and ensure effective staff utilization.
Coach, train, and oversee staff to support their professional development and ensure high-quality project delivery.
Perform other related duties as requested to support project and office objectives.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Ohio.
At least 6 years of site and civil engineering experience for private development projects.
Proficiency with Civil 3D for designing site layout, grading, drainage, infrastructure, and erosion and sediment control from concept through completion.
Expertise in stormwater management design, including hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design, and water quality compliance.
Demonstrated experience effectively managing projects from initial concept through construction documents.
Strong knowledge of local city, county, and state land use processes and regulations.
Proven client development and relationship-building capabilities.
Experience in technical writing and proposal preparation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and sound judgment capabilities.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.

Experience mentoring, coaching, and overseeing staff on technical and project delivery tasks.

Work Environment
This role is based in the Columbus, OH metropolitan area and will initially operate in a fully remote capacity due to the absence of a local brick-and-mortar office. Once a local office is established, the position will transition to a hybrid work schedule, typically involving two days working remotely and three days working in the office each week. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
