Senior Data Engineer

The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for orchestrating, deploying, maintaining, and scaling cloud and/or on-premise infrastructure supporting big data and enterprise data platforms (Relational and NoSQL, distributed and converged systems).

Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
20% – Infrastructure Development
Develop and maintain data infrastructure systems (data warehouses, data lakes).
Build and maintain data access APIs.
Prepare and manipulate data using multiple technologies.
15% – Data Analysis & Reporting
Interpret and analyze data using statistical techniques.
Deliver ongoing reports and actionable insights.
Support data-driven decision-making for key projects.
Design and execute quality control procedures across multiple systems.
15% – Data Modeling
Develop logical and physical data models.
Evaluate and enhance data warehouse architecture.
Apply metadata standards and modeling conventions.
Plan data classes, indexing, replication, backup, retention, and recovery strategies.
15% – Data Collection Frameworks
Create frameworks for structured and unstructured data collection.
15% – Continuous Learning & Innovation
Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices.
Participate in professional workshops and industry networking.
10% – ETL / ELT Development
Apply data extraction, transformation, and loading techniques.
Integrate large datasets from multiple sources.
10% – Best Practices Implementation
Implement best practices in:
Data auditing
Scalability
Reliability
Application performance
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in:
Computer Science
Information Technology
Engineering
Related field
In lieu of degree:
Additional 4 years of relevant experience (on top of required experience).
Experience
5+ years of experience in:
Database design
Data modeling tools
ETL/ELT development
Application development
Relational database development
Data architecture
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
Expert Level
SQL / NoSQL / Python (at least one programming language)
Database design & implementation
Data exchange formats
Data movement concepts
Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
Advanced Level
Organizational and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities
