Overview
BigBear.ai is seeking a Database Engineer 2 to support mission-critical needs for our government customer. This role will be performed onsite at the assigned customer location. As a Database Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of database systems while collaborating with developers and stakeholders to deliver value-driven solutions.
What you will do
Monitor databases and related systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Support agile activities, including release planning, sprint planning, and retrospectives, to incorporate lessons learned into engineering processes.
Model data to design local schemas, tables, data types, indexes, procedures, and functions.
Collaborate with developers throughout the application development lifecycle to build features that deliver value to customers.
What you need to have
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree with 5–8 years of database engineering experience.
Clearance: TS/SCI with Polygraph (required).
Technical Skills:
Experience with MongoDB or MariaDB, including:
Deployment and management of the database.
Debugging and resolving optimization issues.
Scaling database systems to meet performance demands.
What we'd like you to have
Proficiency in Python and frameworks such as Django or Flask.
Experience with ReST endpoint development and micro-service architecture.
Familiarity with tools and technologies such as:
Swagger for API documentation.
AWS, C2S, or other cloud platforms.
Docker for containerization.
Visual Studio Code or similar IDEs.
JSON and/or XML serialization.
Experience with Agile methodologies and tools, including Jira and Confluence.
Proficiency with Git version control.
