US Space Force Supervisory Operations Research Analyst in Colorado Springs, Colorado
Mission:
Space Delta 12 leads the integrated test and evaluation of USSF capabilities in order to rapidly field combat-credible weapon systems and tactics.
Purpose of position:
Serve as a key analyst and recognized expert performing professional and scientific work requiring the design, development, and adaptation of mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other scientific methods and techniques and provide advice and insight about the probable effects of alternative courses of action for capability and requirement development.
?Duties:
• Performs a broad range of space operations research analyses assignments entailing unique problems, creativity, innovative use of techniques, advanced approaches, and/or new technologies.
• Utilizes scientific inquiry in the independent development of mathematical models and computer programs to evaluate and predict the ability to support assigned projects, studies, or problems.
• Analyzes problems revealed by prior studies and advises higher officials of the
feasibility of different approaches which provide a basis for action or the solution to a specific problem.
• Attends meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars related to program planning, advanced technologies, and support system concepts.
Knowledge and skills for the position:
• Knowledge of a broad range of operations research analysis techniques, space operations, and orbital mechanics.
• Knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify, and apply models to resolve problems or define land clarify alternative solutions.
• Skill in negotiating and/or defending findings and program support concepts and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally land in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relations.
• Ability to lead study teams; originate new ideas, projects, and methodologies; and execute projects and/or studies within established financial and/or time constraints.
• Ability to develop and utilize appropriate data collection techniques and design, build, and use models and simulation techniques land to apply orbital mechanics to space operations through modeling and simulation development.
Requirements for the position:
• U.S. citizenship
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.
• This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. It is required that you (a) refrain from the use of illegal drugs and (b) if requested, submit to urinalysis testing.
• Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
• Must meet the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.
• May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
