Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator - Earthwork & Utilities
Pay: $27-30 per hour
Job Description
Operate excavators and loaders for commercial utility construction projects, including trenching, backfilling, grading, and material handling. Perform excavation for underground utilities such as water, sewer, storm, and related infrastructure. Work closely with foremen, laborers, and other operators to complete projects safely and on schedule. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized jobsite in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards. Assist with general site tasks as needed when equipment is not in use.
Responsibilities
Operate excavators and loaders for commercial utility and foundation construction projects.
Perform excavation for underground utilities such as water, sewer, and storm infrastructure.
Work closely with foremen, laborers, and other operators to ensure projects are completed safely and on schedule.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized jobsite in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
Assist with general site tasks as needed when equipment is not in use.
Essential Skills
2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment on commercial construction utility projects.
Proficiency in operating excavators and loaders.
Experience working around underground utilities.
Strong understanding of jobsite safety and trenching practices.
Ability to read and interpret utility plans, grade stakes, and site markings.
Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Reliable transportation to job sites across the Colorado Springs area.
Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
Utility construction experience with water, sewer, and storm systems.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
CDL or equipment certifications.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $28.00/hr.
