Our Department delivers applied systems and mission engineering support to NORAD, USNORTHCOM, and subordinate commands. The department emphasizes collaboration and mission-focused solutions to support homeland defense and security operations.
Job Responsibilities:
Work with a small team on real engineering and/or data science projects, helping with tasks like collecting data, running simple tests, and organizing results.
Take part in an 8–10-week hands-on learning program that introduces core engineering principles and basic data science tools beyond what you learn in school.
Practice explaining your work in simple terms, both in writing and in group discussions or short presentations.
Ask questions, try new ideas, and actively look for chances to turn what you learn in the classroom into practical solutions for real-world problems.
Basic Qualifications:
Sustained excellence in academic performance
Currently in high school and taking STEM classes (such as engineering, computer science, or advanced math/science), with a strong interest in technology and problem-solving.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain ideas and write about what you learned or built.
Demonstrated interest in serving the public
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completed or currently enrolled in advanced math courses (such as Calculus I or higher) and an introductory or Fundamentals of Engineering Design course.

Salary compensation range and midpoint:
$31,200 - $37,800 - $45,400 Annual
