Our Department delivers applied systems and mission engineering support to NORAD, USNORTHCOM, and subordinate commands. The department emphasizes collaboration and mission-focused solutions to support homeland defense and security operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with a small team on real engineering and/or data science projects, helping with tasks like collecting data, running simple tests, and organizing results.

  • Take part in an 8–10-week hands-on learning program that introduces core engineering principles and basic data science tools beyond what you learn in school.

  • Practice explaining your work in simple terms, both in writing and in group discussions or short presentations.

  • Ask questions, try new ideas, and actively look for chances to turn what you learn in the classroom into practical solutions for real-world problems.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Sustained excellence in academic performance

  • Currently in high school and taking STEM classes (such as engineering, computer science, or advanced math/science), with a strong interest in technology and problem-solving.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain ideas and write about what you learned or built.

  • Demonstrated interest in serving the public

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completed or currently enrolled in advanced math courses (such as Calculus I or higher) and an introductory or Fundamentals of Engineering Design course.

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$31,200 - $37,800 - $45,400 Annual
