JOB TITLE:Respiratory Care Manager
DEPARTMENT: Respiratory Care
JOB SUMMARY: Plans, organizes, and directs the provision of respiratory therapy services for patients of the hospital as ordered by a physician.
Supervises department personnel and all functions including respiratory therapy equipment and procedures, conducting pulmonary functions and cardiac stress tests, holter monitoring, ECG, and arterial blood gas analysis.
OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class I.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Graduate of an approved JRCRTE Program. Associate or higher degree preferred.
- Personal Job Related Skills: Leadership and management abilities and effective oral and written communication skills. Familiar with operating computers and Electronic Medical Records Systems.
- Licensure, Registry or Certification: Certified as CRTT or RRT and Texas License.
- Experience:
- Prior Work Experience: Two years experience in respiratory care, supervisory and critical care experience preferred.
- Technical Training: Current in CPR. CPR Instructor Certification preferred.
- Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require moderate periods of standing and walking, with some bending, reaching when providing patient care. Lifting of supplies up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting or supporting patients who may suddenly become weak or helpless.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises and performs respiratory therapy services for patients as ordered by a physician.

``` 1. 1. Directs and performs pulmonary function testing on patients.

``` 1. 2. Administers or directs the administering of gas and aerosol therapy and IPPB therapies.

``` 1. 3. Supervises and performs or directs arterial punctures and analysis of the blood.

``` 1. 4. Maintains or supervises the maintenance and the removal of secretions through various methods.

``` 1. 5. Supervises and places patients on ventilators and monitors them every two hours or as needed.

``` 1. 6. Supervises and performs routine ECGs and prepares them for physician interpretation.

``` 1. 7. Provides care appropriate for the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients served based on demonstrated knowledge of the principals of growth and development over the life span.

``` 1. 8. Assesses and interprets data on neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients status to identify patients requirements relative to their age-specific needs and provides care needed as stipulated in departmental policy.
B.Observes and evaluates respiratory therapy care provided.
- Discusses the condition and treatment of patients with the patients physician and respiratory therapy staff members and recommends changes in respiratory therapy care when indicated.
