Robert Half Divisional/Plant Controller in Coldwater, Michigan
Description We are looking for an experienced Divisional/Plant Controller to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Coldwater, Michigan. This role is ideal for someone passionate about cost accounting and eager to engage directly with production operations on the plant floor. In this position, you will play a crucial role in overseeing financial activities, ensuring accurate reporting, and driving process improvements.
Responsibilities:
• Manage product costing and perform detailed financial analysis to support operational decision-making.
• Oversee physical inventory processes, including accounting and reconciling raw materials, finished goods, and work-in-process.
• Conduct audits and ensure strong internal controls at the plant, while occasionally supporting audits at other organizational locations.
• Analyze and investigate variances such as purchase price, efficiency, usage, and utilization, providing actionable insights.
• Participate in budgeting and forecasting efforts, offering support for both divisional and local financial planning activities.
• Maintain the accuracy of the general ledger by preparing monthly account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to produce financial reports and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Utilize advanced spreadsheet and database tools to streamline financial processes and reporting.
• Contribute to month-end close activities, ensuring timely and precise financial documentation.
• Provide leadership and guidance in manufacturing cost accounting practices to drive efficiency. Requirements • Proven experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on standard cost accounting and general accounting practices.
• Proficient in budgeting, forecasting, inventory management, and account reconciliations.
• Advanced proficiency in PC tools, including spreadsheets and database applications.
• Strong analytical skills, particularly in variance analysis and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with month-end close processes and controllership responsibilities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate financial insights.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining accuracy in all financial activities.
• Experience in manufacturing cost accounting and financial reporting is essential.
