Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking an individual for the position of Prep Cook. The responsibilities of the Prep Cook will include preparing food as directed by the chef and cook staff, making sandwiches and salads and maintaining sanitary procedures in the kitchen and food storage areas.

Responsibilities: - Prepare hot & cold food as directed by chef(s) - Making sandwiches and salads as directed by chef(s) - Follow proper sanitation procedures. - Provides support to the chef(s)which involves: - Providing project information as needed. Education: High School diploma or equivalent Experience: One-year cooking experience in restaurant, catering, or hotel preferred. Knowledge/Skills: - Knife Skills - Basic equipment operation & safe handling practices - Cold food preparation and serving - Proper sanitation procedures - Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming. - Knowledge of a point-of-sale system preferred. - Nassau County Department of Health sanitation certificate preferred. - Ability to understand the Spanish language is helpful.

Working Conditions: - Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. - Constant standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and turning. - Receiving of information through oral communication and a computer. - Exposure to heat and noise.
