General Requirements

Quality Control Requirements

  • Appreciation for cleanliness and sanitation, keeping work area clean and organized.

  • Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and enforce them with colleagues.

  • Complete understanding of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) & its importance.

  • Follow & monitor to assure all Safe Quality Food (SQF) guidelines are implemented & followed.

  • Maintain excellent personal hygiene and wear appropriate apparel for the job.

Note: Required to report food safety problems or concerns immediately to a person with authority to initiate action as indicated on the organizational chart.

Safety Requirements

  • Be aware of and follow up to date OSHA regulations that apply to the tasks in your job.

  • Practice safe lifting techniques, bending and lifting with your legs, not your back.

  • Pivot with your feet avoiding twisting at the waist.

  • Be aware of your surroundings, watch for forklift traffic & trip hazards such as pallets or cords.

  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the job you are doing.

  • Maintain proper guards and safety devices when working with machinery and on catwalks.

  • Never operate equipment for which you have not been properly trained or certified for.

Education/Certifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

  • SQF Practitioner Certification

  • HACCP Certification

  • PCQI Certification

  • Better Process Cheese Control School – Colby Location Only

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary SQF Practitioner and be proficient in all areas of SQF:

  • Responsibility and authority to take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System.

  • Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System.

  • Ensure site personnel have the required competencies to carry out those functions affecting food safety and product quality.

  • Understand the SQF Food Safety Code for Manufacturing and the SQF Quality Code along with the requirements to implement and maintain the system.

  • Competent in Statistical Process Control (SPC) and other quality tools to reduce process variation and drive root cause analysis of non-conformities.

  • Maintain & keep current the SQF System including maintenance of the prerequisite programs

  • Audit the entirety of the SQF System annually this is completed monthly using the SQF Verification Schedule

  • Facilitate the annual SQF audit.

  • Assist with the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the HACCP based food safety and quality plans.

  • Participate in HACCP Team meetings.

  • Facilitate the annual facility HACCP Audit.

  • Play an active role in the development, implementation, maintenance and review of all food safety and quality programs, procedures, manuals, records, and forms.

  • Primary contact, preparation and facilitation of 3rd party audits (customer, SQF, regulatory, GFCO, organic, halal, kosher, etc.).

  • Perform internal audits (GMP, Facility, SQF System Verification).

  • Annual tasks:

  • Food Defense Challenge

  • Facilitate Senior Management Review

  • Product Specification Review

  • Ensure quarterly traceability exercises are performed as described in the Product Identification & Traceability Policy.

  • Verify Pest Reports

  • Assist in scheduling, organizing and performing employee GMP training sessions.

  • Maintain the quality training program including Alchemy and SOPs.

  • Perform new hire quality orientation.

  • Serve in a leadership role and actively participate on all teams.

  • Act as back up to QFS Manager.

  • Respond to reports of suspicious activity related to food defense.

  • Complete other projects and tasks assigned by management.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between:
