Cadastral Mapping Specialist I

What You\'ll Do:
- Maintaining and updating complex geographic boundary datasets, including assessment parcels.
- Preparing computer-based assessment maps and GIS datasets.
- Interpreting recorded and unrecorded legal documents for ownership and boundary changes.
- Processing property splits, merges, and boundary line adjustments.
- Assigning parcel numbers and computing parcel areas.
- Processing subdivision plats and updating associated parcel attributes.
- Conducting detailed legal research through Recorders Office and District Court records.
- Performing multi-variable parcel area and valuation proration calculations.
- Supporting senior Cadastral Mapping Specialists and GIS staff.
- Assisting the public and Assessors Office staff with property-related questions.

What Were Looking For:
- Associates degree (or certification) in GIS, Surveying, Cartography, Computer Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in a Cadastral Technician or similar role.
- Working knowledge of GIS and cadastral mapping terminology.
- Understanding assessment processes and their relationship to other county departments.
- Familiarity with Idaho property assessment laws.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to interpret legal property descriptions and recorded documents.
- Commitment to accuracy, collaboration, and public service.
