FMS Private Industry Council Workforce Advisor in Cobleskill, New York

NY1563751 Workforce Advisor wanted for Cobleskill Center. Associate's degree in human services or related field preferred. Two years customer service experience required. This employee provides more individualized one on one services to customers. These customers have a good job history but are having difficulty with job search. Works in conjunction with the Training and Records Specialist and Business Services Representatives for training programs.

Skills and Abilities: - Is required to make judgments based on experience including situational assessment. - Must possess skills necessary to motivate and provide training for customers in compliance with program policy and requirements. - Must be able to solve problems, make evaluations or reach conclusions based on
subjective or objective criteria. - Needs to have strong communication and organizational skills. - Knowledge and understanding of meeting performance. - Ability to maintain a flexible schedule and cover all offices as assigned. - Knowledge of computer applications including database systems. - Requirements include vehicle and clean driver's license.

Job Duties: - Determine eligibility in compliance and program requirements. - Complete assessments of customers re: job skills, abilities, interest, barriers to employment, and academic ability. Determine if additional assessment is needed. - Complete and maintain Client files both hard copies and computer database. (OSOS). - Maintain confidentiality. - Complete an Initial and Comprehensive assessment to determine the customers' needs and abilities. - Develop an employment plan and provide intensive job placement assistance. - Develop/Make appropriate job referrals, matching the customers skills and abilities to employers' requirements. - Makes referrals to Business Services Representative and Training and Records Specialist for Employer Based and Individual Training services. - Assists Employment Coordinators facilitate workshops as deemed necessary by the customers such as interviewing skills, completing job applications, the hidden job market etc. - Conduct center orientations covering UI information and services available in the centers. - Conduct counseling sessions re: job attitude, job seeking and keeping skills, self-esteem activities, career exploration and labor market information. - Assist customers in creating and organizing job search materials including practice applications, resumes and cover letters. - Meet with service agencies to promote programming activities while developing support for these target groups. - Participate in organizations and coordinating services for each county and surrounding communities as appropriate to program participant needs. Make appropriate referrals for additional services. - Attend and participate in bi-weekly case management meetings with Employment Coordinators, Business Services Representatives and Training and Records Specialist.

Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; 37.5 hours per week

Wage: $41,000/year plus benefits
