IBM Enterprise Data Architect in Cluj, Romania

Your role and responsibilities

Enterprise Architecture (Data), a senior-level role responsible for setting Guidance for architecture, overall design, development, and implementation. Ensure organization's data architecture aligns with its business strategy and objectives. Ensure that data is structured, stored, accessed, and managed effectively and efficiently across the entire enterprise. Eliminate and contain Data Debt by controlling in-flight projects to follow the best practices of modelling and documenting the data, reverse engineer applications in production and develop Enterprise Data Model as a central repository.

Responsibilities

  • Developing data strategy, Reference Architecture, principles standards and guidelines.

  • Align business strategy, vision and objectives to Data Architecture Strategy and Vision. Data as an Asset and moving towards strategic alignment.

  • Building Enterprise (common) Data Repository and mapping to Enterprise Meta-Model. Cloning Data Reference in EA Architecture tool and Data Architecture tool to provide continuity.

  • Develop Data Architecture pattern, decision and best practices - align to data/information reference architecture.

  • Data migration and modernization approach and best practices. Develop SOP for technology standardization and to be followed by other Business units.

  • Establish Technology Standards for Database (All database types). Develop migration strategy, approach and best practice for moving towards rationalized standards.

  • Establish and enable Data Governance framework and processes. Ensure key stakeholder buy-in and approvals. Implementing data governance policies: Establishing and enforcing policies and frameworks to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with regulations such as GDPR.

  • Leading data modelling efforts: Translating business requirements into data models that support both operational and analytical processes, ensuring optimal performance and scalability. Develop conceptual, logical and physical data models using architecture tools. Experience in Hackolade, ERWin, Powerdesigner, Rational or any Enterprise Architecture tool.

  • Experience using Bizzdesign tool will be added value

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams: Working closely with various stakeholders, including business leaders, data engineers, data scientists, and IT teams to understand data needs and deliver innovative data solutions.

  • Evaluating and recommending new technologies: Staying updated on emerging data technologies and trends and recommending appropriate tools and solutions to enhance data capabilities.

  • Providing technical leadership and mentorship: Guiding and mentoring data engineering teams on best practices in data design and architecture, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Overseeing data integration: Designing and overseeing solutions to integrate data from various internal and external sources, ensuring seamless data flow across platforms.

  • Managing architecture documentation: Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation of data architecture components, including data models, data flow diagrams, and technical specifications.

Required technical and professional expertise

Strong expertise in data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical) and database technologies

Proven ability to define data architecture strategy, reference architectures, standards, and best practices

Experience with Enterprise Architecture or data modelling tools

Familiarity with Hackolade, ERWin, PowerDesigner, Rational, or similar EA tools

Preferred technical and professional experience

Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership capabilities

Ability to guide and mentor teams and drive enterprise-scale modernization initiatives
