We are seeking a Senior SolarWinds Engineer to own and evolve our enterprise monitoring and observability platform.
This role requires a highly experienced professional with deep expertise in the SolarWinds Orion Platform, capable of leading architecture, scaling strategy, and platform governance . You will act as the subject matter expert (SME) , driving best practices, mentoring teams, and ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability across our IT infrastructure.
This is a hands-on role where you will design, optimize, and operate SolarWinds end-to-end in a complex, large-scale environment.
Key Responsibilities
Own the SolarWinds platform end-to-end , including architecture, deployment, optimization, and lifecycle management.
Design scalable and highly available SolarWinds architectures , including Additional Polling Engines (APEs), Web Servers, and High Availability (HA) configurations.
Lead the implementation and optimization of SolarWinds modules such as NPM, NCM, SAM, VNQM, IPAM, and Log Analyzer.
Define and implement monitoring strategy, standards, and governance frameworks across infrastructure, applications, and networks.
Architect and develop advanced dashboards, alerts, and reporting frameworks to provide actionable insights and reduce alert fatigue.
Drive proactive monitoring and capacity planning , identifying performance bottlenecks and ensuring system reliability.
Lead integration efforts with enterprise tools such as ServiceNow, Splunk, PagerDuty, and other ITOM/observability platforms.
Oversee platform upgrades, patching, and performance tuning , ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
Implement and manage automation frameworks using PowerShell, Python, or APIs to streamline monitoring operations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (network, infrastructure, application, cloud) to ensure comprehensive observability coverage .
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and administrators.
Support audit, compliance, and documentation efforts , ensuring adherence to enterprise standards and best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Deep expertise in SolarWinds modules: NPM, NCM, SAM (additional modules such as VNQM, IPAM, Log Analyzer strongly preferred).
Proven experience designing and managing large-scale, highly available SolarWinds deployments .
Strong understanding of monitoring protocols and methods: SNMP, WMI, ICMP, API-based polling , and agent-based monitoring.
Extensive experience in custom alerting, reporting, and dashboard design , including alert tuning and noise reduction strategies.
Solid knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls) and Windows Server administration .
Hands-on experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python) for monitoring and integrations.
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze complex performance and availability issues across systems.
Experience working in enterprise or large-scale environments with thousands of monitored nodes.
Ability to work independently and drive initiatives with minimal supervision.
Work Conditions
This role will have a mid shift schedule
We have a hybrid work arrangement and everyone is required to work on-site for thrice a week
