Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Endoscopy Tech for our MercyOne Des Moines Endoscopy department

As a Endoscopy Tech at MercyOne, you will transport patients, cleans and disinfects endoscopes and related equipment, performs clerical functions and assists nursing staff in delivery of care to adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations. This position includes same work assignments at Alternate Mercy endoscopy locations.

Schedule:

  • Full time 40 hours a week

  • M-F 7:00a -5:00p

  • No Weekends No Holidays

General Requirements:

  • Cleans, disinfects and reprocesses endoscopes and accessory equipment. Identifies and reports potential and real problems with endoscopes ensuring properly functioning equipment.

  • Assists in transporting patients within the department.

  • Clerical responsibilities include answering the telephone, relaying messages, maintaining patient log and responsible for entering patient charges when requested.

  • Responsible for maintaining department inventory including but not limited to stocking supplies, linen, galley supplies and charting material.

  • Responsible for the physical upkeep of the department and equipment on a daily basis.

  • Communicates effectively and appropriately with staff, physicians, patients, families and other healthcare team members.

  • Efficiently sets up and tears down procedure rooms.

  • Available to quickly obtain supplies, equipment and medication (non-narcotics) as directed.

  • Answers patient call and emergency lights.

  • Utilizes computer applications; ordering supplies and processing charges.

  • Participates in Quality Monitoring by recording daily, weekly and/or monthly required reports.

Education:

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent.

  • Previous experience with patient care preferred.

  • Basic Life Support certified within six (6) weeks of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers

  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
