As a Mechanical Engineer, you will support and enhance mechanical systems to ensure the manufacturing and packaging equipment operates safely and reliably. Your role involves troubleshooting production-impacting issues and strengthening equipment reliability. You will also lead capital projects and develop mechanical designs for production equipment.
Responsibilities
Support and improve mechanical systems, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of manufacturing and packaging equipment.
Troubleshoot issues affecting production, diagnosing failures in conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, pneumatics, hydraulics, and rotating equipment.
Strengthen equipment reliability by supporting preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives.
Provide hands-on technical support during breakdowns, startups, and line changeovers.
Lead and support capital projects, including equipment installations, upgrades, and line expansions.
Develop mechanical designs and layouts, creating specifications for production equipment and utilities.
Coordinate vendors and contractors, overseeing installation, commissioning, and validation activities.
Ensure safety and compliance by meeting OSHA, machine guarding, LOTO, and company safety standards.
Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve throughput, efficiency, scrap, and energy usage.
Resolve chronic failures through root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
Standardize equipment and documentation by creating drawings, procedures, and best practices.
Train and support maintenance teams, sharing mechanical knowledge and system expertise.
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, electrical/controls, quality, and EHS teams.
Essential Skills
Experience in mechanical engineering.
Proficiency in using SolidWorks for design purposes.
Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical failures.
Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance.
Capability to lead and support capital projects.
Knowledge of safety and compliance standards such as OSHA and LOTO.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with mechanical system support and improvement.
Ability to develop mechanical designs and layouts.
Experience in coordinating with vendors and contractors.
Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies.
Work Environment
The work environment involves working closely with operations, electrical/controls, quality, and EHS teams. You will be expected to engage in hands-on technical support during various operational phases such as breakdowns and startups. Compliance with safety standards and continuous improvement initiatives are key aspects of the role.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clintonville, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
