JOB REQUIREMENTS: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Heat Treat Operator performs various duties throughout the heat treating process for up to 16 furnaces as a member of the heat treat team. The operator work from shop orders and instructions provided by the Heat Treat Engineer, Group Leader and/or Supervisor to deliver a superior product to Scot Forge customers. - Actively participate in efforts to establish and promote a safe and healthy work environment - Review furnace load sheet from previous shift to determine current furnace load status and monitor throughout shift - Perform preventative and autonomous maintenance on HT equipment (furnace filters, brinell, quench tanks - Properly calibrate all equipment - Load and unload materials into furnaces according to established load sheet instructions keeping in mind product support and furnace uniformity. - Load and unload material into quench tank according to both established and unestablished guidelines and practices - Change over quench media from polymer to water as needed. - Perform brinell testing operations and record results in accordance with established specifications. - Understand and follow the Scot Forge quality policy. - Work in cooperation with all fellow employee owners to sustain a strong team atmosphere. - Read and understand basic blueprints (weights, product sizes locations, hardness, test location) - Must be trained/certified in one of the following areas (Manipulator, Ring Stretcher, Drop Bottom Furnace, NADCAP Straightening Press, or Ring Straightening Press QUALIFICATIONS: -High School Diploma or GED Required or equivalent - Basic shop math (calculation of quench times based on part sizes, calculate cycle times) - Ability to make decisions based on limited information (Ambiguity) - Must be able to pass written and practical Heat Treat Examination- (12 months) - Must become a certified hardness tester (use, calibrate and test proper equipment) - Ability to operate and become certified as a Forklift operator - Read and properly calibrate equipment - Crane operator (stacker or gantry) ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be authorized to work anywhere in the U.S. without sponsorship. Must be able to pass a hair sample drug test. Basic math and tape measure Prior heavy equipment operation - preferred Basic computer skills Willing to train entry level candidates providing they demonstrate willingness to work and ability to learn new skills and grow with company. Ability to analyze, interpret and follow both oral and written instructions. Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, analyze situations and conditions, implement solutions and work under deadline pressure.
