Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Pharmacy Technician!

As a Pharmacy Technician at MercyOne, you will assist Clinical Pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications and maintaining the drug inventory and maintaining patient records in Pharmacy. These duties require skill and training but does not include making clinical judgments that require a pharmacist professional judgment. Certified Pharmacy Technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist. Ages of patients served range from neonatal to geriatric.

  • Procure and distribute medication orders per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures, and protocols

  • Maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies

  • Enhance the quality of care of delivery of care and effective operation of the department

  • Maintain a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior

Schedule:

  • Per Diem (PRN)

General Requirements:

  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification required

  • Required to be registered with the State of Iowa Board of Pharmacy before commencing employment

  • One to three years of previous pharmacy experience (or combination college and experience) is preferred

  • Must be able to type accurately, have basic knowledge of medical terms and abbreviations

  • Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination are useful in preparing or assisting with preparation of orders

  • Must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills in a Windows environment

Education:

  • High school diploma required
