Job Title: Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist

Job Description

This position will provide specialized support to the Environmental, Health, and Safety Department. You will work closely with the EHS team and site operations to maintain waste management programs, including hazardous, regulated medical, pharmaceutical, and other specialized wastes.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute Safety Preventative Maintenance and Inspections.

  • Manage the regulated and specialized waste program at the site.

  • Collaborate with warehouse personnel on tracking and removing specialized rejected products and materials.

  • Oversee and maintain the Regulatory compliance matrix.

  • Coordinate sampling of the wastewater.

  • Perform safety inspections of PPE.

  • Assemble, train, and maintain the site emergency response team.

  • Track various EHS metrics.

  • Coordinate and monitor external contractors involved with the removal of regulated and specialized waste streams.

  • Draft reports for review and prepare for final submission to the local authority.

  • Update the SDS database system when new material safety data sheets are received.

  • Maintain an up-to-date chemical inventory of all approved chemicals on site and audit it annually.

  • Conduct annual required training and regulatory drills.

  • Liaise with occupational health on injuries and medical emergencies.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in waste management, hazardous waste, risk assessment, RCRA, industrial hygiene, and chemical safety.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental, Health, Safety).

  • 2+ years of experience in an Environmental, Health & Safety role.

  • Experience in Hazardous / Regulated Waste Management.

  • Ability to obtain RCRA certification and DOT certification within 60 days of employment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a GMP environment.

  • Experience with EHS management systems (Enablon, Intelex, VelocityEHS, etc.).

  • Previous pharmaceutical industry experience is a plus.

Work Environment

This role is based in a very large GMP-regulated manufacturing facility undergoing expansion. The facility is currently undergoing construction and the addition of new manufacturing lines. You will spend approximately 60% of your time on the floor and 40% at a desk. The facility is in the process of adding new aims to become fully operational. The role offers an exciting opportunity for growth, with room to advance into a managerial position

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $34.00/hr.
