POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Director of Admissions and Student Services is responsible for recruiting and enrolling international students and executing the student experience, from orientation to graduation, in the International Master of Laws (LLM) and International Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) degree programs. The director is responsible for the administrative, admissions and alumni relations aspects of the LLM and SJD programs under the direction of the dean and works closely with the faculty to develop, market, and manage the international graduate law program including international recruitment, admission processes involving foreign governments, internal and external publications, summer internship placements, alumni relations and reunions. The director handles the day-to-day business functions of this enterprise, which generates more than seven million dollars in net annual tuition revenue (over 40 percent of law school net tuition).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Manage admissions for both the International Master of Laws (LLM) and International Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) degree programs. Plan and execute recruitment strategies to admit international students into programs. Use marketing tools in Slate to communicate with prospects, inquiries, applicants and confirmed students to encourage students to apply and enroll. Facilitate the uploading of prospects and inquiries from advertising campaigns and TOEFL. Create marketing messages that describe program highlights. Organize data and generate marketing statistical reports. Prepare all online recruiting presentations and participate in online recruiting events launched internally through Slate, or sponsored by outside professional organizations, publications, and advertisers. Advise and assist with advertising endeavors. Monitor the LLM application and scholarship review process, and partner with the Director of the SJD program to review applications for SJD admission. Monitor and assist with the counseling of admitted students regarding the enrollment process and the unique requirements for international students. Establish and renew contracts with international recruiters. Communicate with and train contracted agents regarding admission requirements and the curriculum. Monitor fees paid to contracted recruiters. Maintain connections with partner law schools to facilitate the enrollment of international LLMs through concurrent degree program agreements and other partnership agreements. Maintain contact information for LLM and SJD alumni. Reach out to LLM and SJD alumni working abroad to establish platforms to promote CWRU LLM and SJD degree programs to local bar associations and law school students. Monitor the law school website for needed updates about admissions requirements and the curriculum. Collaborate on domestic non-JD options. (20%)
Plan and execute a supportive experience for international LLM and SJD students from orientation through graduation, collaborating with colleagues across the university. Develop and execute onboarding and orientation programs for international LLM and SJD students, including the online Canvas orientation portal. Develop and update academic advising guidelines that help students select appropriate courses for LLM degrees and concentrations. Meet with LLM students to align their course selections with their backgrounds, subject interests, and career goals. Collaborate with the Director of the International LLM to plan and implement the Summer Language and Law institute. Develop and execute an academic advising process that ensures that LLM students enroll in the classes required for their intended degrees and concentrations. Work with Academic Services to record changes of degrees, concentrations, and intended graduation dates.
